New Members and Fresh Direction
To mark this new chapter, Linkin Park has expanded its lineup. Emily Armstrong, co-founder and vocalist of the alternative rock band Dead Sara, will join the group as a co-vocalist. Additionally, rock producer Colin Brittain will take on the role of drummer. Both Armstrong and Brittain were brought into the fold after positive experiences during informal studio sessions.
Quotes from the Band
Mike Shinoda expressed enthusiasm about the new lineup, stating, “We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together.” He emphasized the importance of embracing bold changes and maintaining Linkin Park’s core identity despite the shifts in personnel.
Bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell reflected on the emotional journey the band has undergone, saying, “Emily feels like Linkin Park, Colin feels like Linkin Park. The six of us working together, figuring stuff out — that’s energizing.” Farrell also shared the personal challenges the band faced following Bennington’s death, highlighting the transformative impact of this new phase.
Rob Bourdon’s Departure
Drummer Rob Bourdon, a longstanding member of Linkin Park, is not participating in this tour or the new album. According to Shinoda, Bourdon wished to distance himself from the band, and the group respects his decision. Bourdon’s absence marks a significant change for the band, which has previously included him since its early days as Xero.
New Album Release
The album “From Zero” is slated for release on November 15, 2024. The first single, “The Emptiness Machine,” is already available. This marks Linkin Park’s first studio work since 2017’s “One More Light.”
With this new tour and album, Linkin Park aims to continue their legacy while embracing fresh influences and talents. Fans are eagerly anticipating how the band will evolve with its new members and the upcoming music.
